Job Search

We all need to sharpen our job search tools each time we go looking for employment (actually some people like to keep them sharp all the time-just in case). The Limestone Community Education Centre provides you with guides so that you can plan an effective job search strategy and develop engaging marketing materials that speak directly to what employers are looking for. Once you’ve got the interview, make sure you apply interview strategies that help you shine.

The job search

Get prepared

Getting prepared for your job search will alleviate frustration. Finding answers to questions that may pop up during your job search will enable you to proceed in a systematic manner.

The resume

Individualized to each position

Resumes should include: a profile or summary, expertise or skills, accomplishments, work experience, education. Resumes should not include references.

The cover letter

Introduce yourself

The purpose of a cover letter is to introduce you to a potential employer. It is used when you are not meeting a potential employer in person first.

The interview

Approach with confidence

The interview is usually the final decision-making tool in the hiring process. If you have been called in for an interview, you can assume that the employer is interested in you and feels that you may be able to meet their needs.
